Hi,

Qlockwork is great. I use it to put my worktime in M$ project manager.
But it is not perfect, yet; so here's my feedback to make it even better:

Add the possibility in "create a report in e-mail format" to select a specific project to create a report for. It would be neat that by default the code would generate the report from the first date the project was created until now, without having to set dates. Would it be possible to combine by application and by project at the same time?

Treeing of projects: it would be nice to be able to split up big projects into sub projects

Is VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office) installed?

My best guess would be somewhere along the line, Visual Studio has configured a default action to allow debugging of an Add-In that's under development, and that this "debug-always" action is firing even when it shouldn't -- so I think it's worth checking the options that are set in your Visual Studio installation (particularly in the Add-In Manager).

If you're running Office 2007, it might also be worth running the Office Diagnostics program to see if it can tidy things up -- see: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012340761033.aspx

Hope that helps,

David

From
http://www.workingprogram.com/userguide/FAQ.html#movefolder

"The Qlockwork folder can be moved or renamed, but it must stay in the same top-level folder it started in. For example, if you create a new personal folder and drag the Qlockwork folder into it, it will stop updating. To fix this, just drag the Qlockwork folder back to its original position."

I think the program does run very well in the background, and for purposes of getting an idea of what you are spending your time on to evaluate your effectiveness, etc., it works perfectly. I am coming at it from the idea of preparing time sheets. If I could charge my time to clients and projects "on the fly" when the program doesn't recognize the project, that would be more effective for time sheet preparation accuracy I think.

Thanks!

There are 1 replies, with the last one on 20 Dec 2007 at 09:53:39 by aec
Quote:
Hi,

1. How Qlockwork works is this.
- It monitors all the foreground applications you used and how much you used them (how much you moused over them or clicked on them or typed into them).
- Then for each 5 minute period it records the application that you were most actively using.
- If you were using lots of different windows for the same application, for example, reading a lot of different emails in Outlook, then it says you were working on Outlook and lists all the emails you looked at.
- If you worked on the same application for more than 5 minutes it runs those 5 minute periods together.

2. Qlockwork assumes that if you don't touch the computer at all (no mouse or keyboard) you are not working at the computer and doesn't record your time.

3. I think this is covered by 1.

I hope this helped!
Anne

I suppose that shouldn't be a problem.

Incidentally, do you have a features request forum? It'd be great if the project list allowed subcategories instead of a flat list.

Anyway, I'm finding your program very useful already. And over time, the data I collect can't but me more useful (and hopefully more time efficient) :-)

Arun.

While you're looking at the Qlockwork view, select View/Current View/Customize Currrent View from the menu. Click on Filter and select the Advanced tab. Click on the Field dropdown and select Activity/Description (if that field is not visible, select Forms.../Personal Forms/Activity to add it to the field list). Next, change the filter condition for the Description field to doesn't contain "specific application" and click OK to save your changes to the view.

Note that this does not actually stop QW from tracking the app, it just does not show up in the view.

Simon
I too would like a pony
